AFI
VERY PROUD OF YA
AFI's second album, on remastered color vinyl. Very Proud Of Ya included some new songs, as well as some re-recorded versions of songs from AFI's early EPs and two tunes from their first album. Plus, the LP version contains three vinyl-only bonus tracks. A time capsule of the group's East Bay Hardcore days.
Unlike a lot of recent vinyl re-issues, the remastering job on Very Proud Of Ya is a noticeable and tasteful improvement (not just another “loudness wars” casualty). The original recording always sounded significantly quieter than the albums it came between (AFI’s 1995 debut LP, Answer That and Stay Fashionable, and 1998’s Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes). This redux remedies that situation by turning the volume up a little and providing a fuller, punchy sound, but without ruining the audio via over-compression.
Cool comic cover art by AFI/Tiger Army bassist, Geoff Kresge. Guest appearances by Nick 13 from Tiger Army and future AFI guitar player Jade Puget.
