PURCHASE

"Limerence" is a drizzly pop offering from AUtONOMY, their catchiest to date and possibly their greatest.  Followed by a heavy and driving version of "Man Should Surrender," a song originally written and recorded by Al Jourgensen (Ministry) and Ian MacKaye (Fugazi/Minor Threat) during their short-lived PAILHEAD collaboration.

Truewave duo the STREET EATERS supply the second side of this split.  "Null" was recorded at the legendary 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California.  Swirling marbled color vinyl, includes a download code.

THE BROTHERS GROSS
READY TO ROLL e.p.

The Brothers Gross are a geeked-out garage punk outfit with roots in Illinois and Indiana.  If you catch them in the act live, you can inhale or exhale between songs...but you won't have time for both.

BROGRO's newest record, the Ready To Roll E.P., holds true to form.  Better recording quality than their LP, courtesy of production work by Paul Mahern of the Zero Boys (who also added vocals to the song "Are You There").  Toe-tappin' from the title track to the end.  Sweet time change in-between, on "Runaway."  Four tight tracks on numbered & colored wax.
(Includes download)

Get with the BROGRO, yo.

01.  Ready To Roll

AUtONOMY / DOOM TOWN

LINDSEYS
RELIGIOUS SEXTS
LP

Religious Sexts is a record that sounds like it took just the right amount of time out of its busy schedule of autoerotism and digging cigarette butts from public ashtrays, in order to genuflect before the altar of the Naked Cult of Hickey and turn up the reverb at open-mic nite during an improv comedy set by Sharon Tate's Baby.  Cleverly foolish fun that can't be denied or despised.

Hailing from the land of flannel and coffee, Seattle's Lindseys somehow nail down the sound of early '90s Olympia indie and late '90s Mission District punk.  So, think: Hickey, Beat Happening and Your Mother in a blender.  The guy that recorded this album (and mixed all 16 songs in 2 days total) used the description "like a hockey player beating on your face."  If all that doesn't sound like something you're into, we probably can't be friends.

Handmade cover art, photocopied insert and limited color vinyl for the old-school hipster;  high-quality download code for the digital completist.

AUtONOMY altar of apathy 7"

7" - $5.00

PURCHASE

Excellent single from AUtONOMY, their first 7-inch (following a demo tape and a full-length LP).  "Altar of Apathy" is such a strong song from the group, easily their best to date.  Both tracks find the band immersing themselves further in the darkwave/post-punk sound that was evident on AUtONOMY's previous anarcho-punk releases.  It's a great progression.  Vinyl is "smokey clear" and also includes a mini-booklet with lyrics.

THREATS Live at CBGB LP

12" LP - $15.00

PURCHASE

Another Dr. Strange original.  A Scottish street punk band that started in the '70s as the Reflectors, Threats recorded this album live in 2002 at historic CBGB/OMFUG in New York.  This tour gave their career a second act, with this CBGB's mayhem standing as time's witness.  Includes all the classic Threats songs you'd wanna hear from the band's vintage era.  The set is closed out by a not-so-secret Sex Pistols song.

Radical red vinyl with a hand-made alternate cover...this special edition is super rare.

Frantics / Black Left Pinky - split

7" EP

AVAILABLE

FRANTICS / BLACK LEFT PINKY
Cornered

Buried treasure from South Carolina snotcore punks, the Frantics.  Two tunes from an unreleased studio booking in '96 intended for their first album.  Most of the songs from that session were re-recorded a year later for the band's eventual full-length debut, It's Casual, but these gems remained unheard...until now!

A pair of angry and aggressive tracks on the flip side, courtesy of Black Left Pinky.  Influenced by old school hardcore/punk and '90s underground, this central Illinois trio features growled vocals over chug guitars and thunder drums.  Punch a hippy!

Dual cover art and label sketches by Timothy Bradstreet.

LIMITED EDITION OF 1,000 ON MARBLE GREY VINYL ONLY

TRACKS:

01.  FRANTICS "Running In Place"
02.  FRANTICS "In A Jar"

THE MEICES - A Historical Document 7"

7" single

PURCHASE

THE MEICES
A HISTORICAL DOCUMENT
AUDIO HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SATANIC LUNAR LANDING MISSION

San Francisco's mighty mighty Meices give up the ghost with glory, but not much fanfare, leaving us with this fabulous farewell on limited white vinyl.  During their stay on planet Earth, The Meices served as fodder for Beavis and Butt-Head, inspiration for Matty Luv in the days of Hickey, and commissionaires for punk, garage and beyond.

A-side is an exclusive studio recording by Gil Norton (who also produced The Meices' final LP and a handful of Pixies records, among other things)...maybe from the same sessions as their last album, so why it was left off in favor of material that wasn't nearly this rad probably has something to do with major labels being stupid.  The swan song is a live version of "Lettuce Is Far Out" (original version appears on their epic Tastes Like Chicken LP) that captures the trio in full spacey, slurry goodness.
