A lot of folks will try to tell you about how the Bad Brains invented hardcore punk by being the fastest band at the time.  Well, those folks must not know about the Middle Class.  Middle Class was doing the next-level-punk thing about a year before the Brains, as evidenced by Middle Class' 1979 landmark EP, "Out Of Vogue" - a more aggressive punk style played at a speed that broke the sound barrier into hardcore territory for the first time.  Founding Fathers of H.C. right here.
